Pressure mounts on IHG to deliver on Living Wage Promise

Pressure is mounting on IHG to deliver on its promise to phase in the London Living Wage at its managed properties in London. Hot on the heels of Branch protests at the Kings Cross Holiday Inn on Mayday and at the lobby of IHG shareholders at the Park Lane Intercontinental Fiona Twycross Labour member of the Greater London Assembly has written to the Mayor of London asking him to seek a progress report from senior IHG management. The Living Wage Foundation has also written to the company requesting a meeting for a progress report. Our evidence from workers is that there has been little of no progress and it is increasingly looking like an empty promise.

The Hotel Branch is also calling on IHG to honour its promise to respect trade union rights for its employees as part of its endorsement of the United Nations Global Compact. Branch volunteers have been keeping their fellow workers informed through the distribution of an IHG members' newsletter at hotel staff entrances.
